The village of Monte Petrosu is located in the Municipality of San Teodoro, not far from wonderful beaches such as Cala Girgolu, Porto Taverna, Spiaggia delle Vacche and Cala Brandinchi.
In this stretch of coast you will find crystal clear waters, surrounded by fragrant Mediterranean scrub and granite rocks sculpted by the wind. The seabed is mostly shallow and sandy, therefore also ideal for children and for lovers of diving and snorkelling.
The closest beach to Montepetrosu Charming House is the wonderful Cala Girgolu, reachable either on foot or in a few minutes by car via a dirt road. These are numerous coves that can be visited along small paths that allow you to move from one to another, characterised by crystal-clear turquoise water and surrounded by pink granite rocks and Mediterranean scrub. To complete this splendid scenery, the backdrop of the Capo Coda Cavallo marine area and the imposing Tavolara Island in front of the coast, a distinctive feature of the entire San Teodoro area. This area has also been made famous over the years by the "Turtle Rock", a true natural work of art sculpted by the winds and unfortunately destroyed not long ago by humans.
Near Cala Girgolu there is also the Vacche beach, a 30-metre long inlet bordered by two small granite cliffs. A real paradise immersed in unspoiled nature, with crystal clear, shallow waters sheltered from the winds. Absolutely not to be missed!
Punta Molara, opposite the island of the same name, alternates small sandy stretches with cliffs. It is a small cove enclosed by granite rocks and Mediterranean scrub, sheltered from the wind but without beach facilities.
The beach of Porto Taverna is also close by, with its fine white sand and waters somewhere between green and turquoise.
The beach is served by equipped areas, bars, restaurants and convenient parking. On request, we can book for you some of the services of our partner Mare Azzurro, which offers the rental of sunbeds and umbrellas, a bar kiosk and the possibility to rent small boats to allow you to visit the Marine Protected Area of Tavolara Punta Coda Cavallo.
Finally, it would be unthinkable to miss out on the chance to visit the other beaches in San Teodoro, all of which can be reached in a short time by car: Cala Brandinchi is definitely worth a visit. It is perhaps the most famous beach in San Teodoro, also known as "little Tahiti" for the very white colour of its sand and the sharp contrast with the turquoise water. Popular with snorkelling enthusiasts for its beautiful seabed, Cala Brandinchi also offers thrills for birdwatchers thanks to the presence behind it of the pond of the same name, home to herons, flamingos and black-winged stilts. A curiosity: it was from here that Garibaldi set sail in 1867 in an attempt to free Rome.
Among the other most famous beaches of San Teodoro we recommend Lu Impostu (bordering Cala Brandinchi), La Cinta (5 km long), Puntaldìa and L'Isuledda.
Another attraction not to be missed is certainly the Coclearia evening market in San Teodoro.
The name of the Coclearia market derives from cochlea, a word meaning shell and which was used in the time of the ancient Romans to indicate a place 15 miles from Olbia, probably San Teodoro.
Today, the shell is the symbol of the market, open every evening from June to September from 8.00 pm to 2.00 am.
This market consists of more than 100 stalls arranged in the streets of the centre, six market areas, in which you will find not only traders but also those who handcraft jewellery and other accessories and handicraft products of all kinds: an opportunity to learn more about the local tradition.
There are also street artists who stage different shows and musical events that help to bring the summer evenings to life.
Many shops, bars and restaurants also stay open late: an excellent idea for those who want to dine out and take the opportunity to buy souvenirs, clothing, accessories and gifts to bring back from holiday.
